The finalists in the Midlands Business Awards were announced last night with some fantastic results for Coventry University and our students. Coventry University itself was shortlisted as a finalist for “Entrepreneurial University of the Year” for the second year running.
SIB President Simon Hill was shortlisted for the category “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” AND “Entrepreneur of the Year” for his business ‘Summit Marketing Solutions‘.
Third year student Kate Vincent was also shortlisted for “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” for her business ‘Super Pooch‘.
Winners will be announced at the 2010 awards on January 29th. Good luck to you all!
The Re-Launch of the Students in Business society, was a fantastic success with over 65 people!
Those who can on the 22nd October, enjoyed some great curry provided by the Start-Up Cafe, an intriguing case study from Martin Gower, Chairman of the Coventry & Warwickshire Institute of Directors, as well as fantastic networking opportunities. Many of you have already have come over to the Student Center to organize a mentor through the Institute of Applied Entrepreneurship, and we will also be in touch shortly about the Institute of Directors mentoring scheme.

Coventry University is working with other European agencies to operate an exchange programme for new entrepreneurs, funded by the European Commission. ERASMUS for Young Entrepreneurs is aimed at helping new entrepreneurs to acquire relevant skills for managing and growing a small or medium sized enterprise by working with an experienced host entrepreneur in another European country for 1 to 6 months.
ERASMUS for Young Entrepreneurs is ideal for you if you want to:
Work with a serious, committed and motivated new entrepreneur from another country who contributes with new and fresh ideas
Gain access to new skills and innovative knowledge
Gain knowledge about foreign markets – including business contacts – and increased opportunities to internationalise your business
Improve the growth potential of your enterprise and have an opportunity to establish a new business partnership directly with an entrepreneur from another country
We are currently looking for new entrepreneurs (owners of businesses trading for no more than three years) in the West Midlands area who would be willing to participate in the scheme and share their entrepreneurial experience with an entrepreneur from another country.
